音楽のはじまりを支え、その芽吹きを育む存在でありたい
株式会社プリマ楽器は、1945年の終戦直後、
東京・赤羽にて個人営業の楽器・楽譜の卸商として創業いたしました。
1948年には現在の地・東日本橋で大橋次郎商店として営業を開始し、
物資も限られ、文化の在り方も大きく揺らいでいた時代において、
学校教育用楽器の普及や、楽器製作を志す方々への支援に力を尽くしてまいりました。
その頃、私たちが扱う新しい楽器の一つひとつに
「希望と誇りを託したい」という願いを込めて冠した名が、
「Prima（プリマ）」というブランド名でした。
音楽用語としての “prima” は、「第一声」「冒頭」「原点」を意味するとともに、
合奏の中で作品全体を導く役割を担う声部や、響きの核となる存在をも象徴する言葉です。
そこには “音楽のはじまりを支え、その芽吹きを育む存在でありたい” という
創業者の願いが宿っています。
そして、この精神は社名として受け継がれ、
今日に至るまで、私たちの礎となって息づいております。
創業以来、国内外の優れたメーカーとの信頼を深めながら、
独自の技術を磨き、新しい挑戦を続ける工房の歩みに寄り添い、
ともに音楽文化を育てる役割を果たしてまいりました。
また、卸商社としての確かな流通網を基盤に、
製品の魅力が正しく伝わり、音楽の現場で生きた響きを宿すことができるよう、
ブランド構築やプロモーションといった活動も一貫して担ってまいりました。
長い歳月の中で、楽器店・販売店の皆様をはじめ、
演奏家、指導者、愛好家、そして数多くのメーカー・出版社の皆様より
温かいご支援を賜り、私たちは2025年におかげさまで創業80周年を迎えました。
これからも総合卸商社としての責任と誇りを胸に、
音楽を志すすべての方々に寄り添いながら、
日本の音楽文化の未来を支え、育てていける企業でありたいと願っております。

Corporate Philosophy (English)
Support the Beginnings of Music and Nurture Its Earliest Shoots
Prima Gakki Co., Ltd. was founded in 1945 in Akabane, Tokyo, in the difficult years
following the end of the Second World War, as a small wholesaler of musical instruments
and printed music. In 1948 the company relocated to its present site in Higashi-Nihombashi
and began operating as Ōhashi Jirō Shōten. At a time when material resources were scarce
and the very shape of cultural life was in flux, we devoted ourselves to the distribution of
school instruments and to supporting those who aspired to craft musical instruments in Japan.
Among the instruments we handled in those early years, we bestowed the name
“Prima” upon each new instrument as a way of entrusting it with our hope and sense of pride.
In musical terminology, “prima” signifies “the first voice”, “the opening” and “the origin”.
It also refers to a line that leads a musical work from within an ensemble — an axis
around which the entire sound takes shape. Within this word lies our founder’s wish
to support the beginnings of music and nurture its earliest shoots.
This spirit has been carried forward in our company name
and continues to serve as the foundation of all we do.
Since our founding, we have built enduring relationships of trust with distinguished makers
in Japan and abroad. We have walked alongside workshops that refine their craft and pursue
new ideas, playing our part in fostering the wider musical culture. As a wholesaler, we draw
upon a reliable distribution network to ensure that each product’s true qualities are conveyed
with fidelity and that the instruments we handle may find a living resonance in the hands of
musicians. We have also undertaken branding, promotional activities and other initiatives
that connect makers, retailers and the musical community.
Over many decades, we have been fortunate to receive the warm support of music shops
and retailers, performers, teachers, enthusiasts and an array of manufacturers and publishers.
Thanks to these generous relationships, Prima Gakki marks its 80th anniversary in 2025.
With renewed commitment and a deep sense of responsibility as a comprehensive wholesaler,
we will continue to stand alongside all who pursue music — supporting, nurturing,
and helping to shape the future of musical culture in Japan.
